Audrey's heartfelt wish boosts self-belief

After three heart surgeries, Audrey wished for her own special LEGO house and a LEGO mini-fig with a chest scar just like hers. The wish left Audrey feeling more confident.

Three heart surgeries for little girl

Audrey’s wish put her in control, perhaps for the first time in her life.

Then aged 10, Audrey had endured three open heart surgeries and endless medical appointments where her frail heart was examined over and over.

Audrey wished to build a custom pink LEGO house and have a LEGO mini-figurine of herself.

Joy at mini-fig with scar

Audrey meticulously designed both the house and the mini-figurine.

The three-storey pink house was always going to fill Audrey with joy, but it was the mini-figurine that would boost her sense of self-esteem.

“During the planning of the wish, Audrey said ‘It’d be really cool if one of the figurines looks like me, with my chest scar’,” Audrey’s mum Cath said.

“It was very special for Audrey to be able to pick the clothes and hairstyle she wanted for the mini-fig, showing off her scar.

We always say that a scar is a sign that something tried to stop you, but you were stronger.”

Big smiles as the wish Audrey built comes true

On her wish day at the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Melbourne, Audrey’s face lit up when her house and mini-figurine were revealed.

“Audrey was like ‘Oh all of this is for me?’,” Cath said.

“Obviously the mini-fig just looked exactly like her and she was like, ‘this is exactly what I said I wanted’.”

Later, a proud Audrey showed her mini-fig to her classmates at school.

“It generated a lot of questions and people were quite engaged,” Cath said.

They were interested in what she'd been through.”

LEGO wish builds confidence

Cath said Audrey's self-belief increased from talking about her medical condition.

“The wish definitely gave her confidence and improved her self-esteem,” Cath said.

“To have someone say she deserves the wish and it's all done for her was amazing!

“To have a wish is truly remarkable and special.”
