Grace's Quokka Wish
What do 7-year-old Gracie and a Quokka have in common? They both have adorable grins!
After seeing her first Quokka in a movie, Gracie became obsessed. So much so that her grandma gave her a toy quokka that would comfort her when she was having treatment and surgeries. It came as no surprise when Gracie wished to go to Rottnest Island to 'take selfies' with the smiley creatures.
Fun for the family!
As Gracie's medical team were unsure how she would respond to her recent open-heart surgery for Marfan syndrome, Gracie's wish was made urgent. It wasn't long before Gracie's wish came true - not only did she get her selfie, but she got a kiss from a Quokka too!
The trip was more than just smiles and kisses. It gave the opportunity for the whole family to connect with one another without the usual worries of everyday life and medical appointments.
We loved seeing the kids absolute joy when interacting with the quokkas, the quality family time without the stress of medical appointments and our normal responsibilities, riding around on bikes exploring the island and just taking in the absolute beauty of Rottnest!
