Eden's Cavoodle Puppy Wish!

All About Eden
Eden is a very outgoing, bright and bubbly young girl; although she can be very nervous and shy around people she doesn't know, once she feels comfortable, she has a smile as bright as the sun.
Eden has two brothers, and the family already has two Border Collies. However, Eden was hoping for a Cavoodle puppy named Winter to be her very own.
As you can see by Eden's smile, it was a very special day when Winter arrived and Eden's wish was granted. Winter has taken to the family in the best way - even forming a bond with the younger Border Collie (the other one is 12 and has no time for puppies!)
Volunteer Star Power
We are fortunate to have so many dedicated and passionate volunteers working behind the scenes - and for Eden's wish, it was Clare Dewhurst from our Brisbane North branch. Clare formed a beautiful bond with Eden and her family from the moment they met. The trust and care that was shown made this wish journey so impactful, with Clare going above and beyond to ensure that Eden was engaged and excited in the lead up to her wish coming true.
Knowing how much Eden loves animals, and given the direct link to her wish, what better way to create anticipation for Eden than by visiting Guide Dogs Australia. Organised by Clare and along with fellow Brisbane volunteer Courtney, Eden had a wonderful time playing with puppies and interacting with the team. The day culminated in a morning tea and wish reveal announcing the news that in four short weeks, Winter would be coming home to Eden!
While that might have been more than enough for any other wish, Clare also contacted local pet shops for support to provide goods for Winter and Eden, and what support they got! The local My Pet Warehouse spoke to their suppliers and were generously able to donate everything that Eden and Winter would need. On shopping day attended by Eden and her family plus Clare and fellow Brisbane volunteer Laurie, there were so many items that they needed to remove the packaging to make sure everything fit in the car! All of this from a simple phone call from a passionate volunteer who connected with the community to rally behind Eden.
On wish day, Clare was there to officially hand Winter over to Eden before a planned afternoon tea with Eden's family to celebrate. Following the wish, mum Sharyn shared this beautiful note:
"I would love to pass my sincere thanks to Clare who certainly is an Earth Angel. We have been very lucky to have had her alongside us on this journey, Eden absolutely adores her, as does the rest of our family. She is one precious human and I truly hope she stays with Make-A-Wish for a long time as she sure is a blessing."
We couldn't have made this wish as special as it was without the support of everyone involved, from the breeder, to the suppliers, and most of all our wonderful Brisbane North volunteers Clare, Courtney and Laurie. Thank you for going above and beyond to create special memories for Eden and her family.
Beyond The Wish
Since Eden's wish was granted, Winter has had her first puppy pre-school lesson. Winter is doing amazingly well, helped of course by Eden who taught her the basics on her own!
