Help your students identify the communities they belong to

As well as learning how to empathise with peers and positively contribute to and strengthen their communities.

The community bundle includes 5 x 1 hour lessons that we recommend running as a series over a couple of weeks. This could also run as a class project or by selecting activities to "mix and match" to best suit your classroom's learning needs, styles and interests!

Curriculum mapping:

These lessons support the Grade 3 and 4 personal and social general capabilities.
Specifically, they map to these capabilities:

  • Describe the influence that people, situations and events have on their emotions.
  • Identify and describe strategies to manage and moderate emotions in increasingly unfamiliar situations
  • Explain the value of self-discipline and goal setting in helping them to learn.
  • Identify the various communities to which they belong and what they can do to make a difference.
  • Describe factors that contribute to positive relationships, including with people at school and in their community.

Empathy in Action: Building Connected Communities

Description: This series of lessons invites students to explore empathy and the power of connected communities. Through creative activities, role-playing, and reflection, students learn to view the world through others' eyes, understand the value of supportive relationships, and discover simple ways they can make a positive impact in their own communities.
